Agar India mein aapka stock broker company achanak band ho jaye ya broker default/insolvent ho jaye, to normally aapke shares broker ki property nahi ban jaate. Sabse important baat ye hai ki shares aur broker company alag cheezein hain.

Example se samjhiye

Maan lijiye aapke paas:

  • Reliance ke ₹2 lakh ke shares
  • SBI ke ₹1 lakh ke shares
  • Total ₹3 lakh ki holdings

Aur aapka broker band ho gaya.

Aapke shares normally aapke demat account mein hi rehte hain. SEBI ke framework mein client securities ko broker ke apne assets se alag rakhne ki व्यवस्था है. Pledge/re-pledge system mein bhi securities client ke demat account mein hi rehti hain.

Lekin broker ke paas rakha cash?

Yahan situation alag hai.

Agar broker ke paas aapka unused cash balance pada hai aur broker default karta hai, to recovery/claim process ki zarurat pad sakti hai. NSE ke investor-protection mechanism mein eligible claims ke liye Investor Protection Fund ka provision hai, subject to applicable rules and limits.

Agar broker default ho jaye to kya hota hai?

NSE ke process ke according:

  1. Broker ko disable kiya ja sakta hai.
  2. Investors ko website, SMS/email ke through information di ja sakti hai.
  3. Eligible investors se claims mangaye jaate hain.
  4. Claims ki processing aur settlement exchange ke prescribed process ke according hoti hai.

SEBI/NSE ki current lists mein actual default/expelled brokers bhi listed hain, isliye ye sirf theoretical situation nahi hai.

Short answer:
👉 Shares = generally safe because they are held in your demat account/depository system.
👉 Broker ke paas pada cash = default ki situation mein claim/recovery process ho sakta hai.
👉 Trading account/app band hona aur shares khatam hona ek hi baat nahi hai.

Aap chahein to main “Zerodha/Upstox/Groww/Angel One band ho jaye to exactly investor ke shares aur paisa ka kya hoga?” ko ek real-life example ke saath bhi samjha sakta hoon.
